Paint Correction — Restore Your Car’s Original Shine

Paint Correction — Restore Your Car’s Original Shine

Hold a torch to a dark car and you will see fine circular scratches across the panel. Those are swirl marks, and they are not in the paint — they are in the clear coat on top of it. They scatter light, which is why the car looks dull even when clean.

Paint correction removes them by levelling a few microns of clear coat with a machine polisher and abrasive compounds. Done in stages: a cutting stage to remove the defects, then a refining stage to remove the haze the cutting leaves.

It is not something to repeat endlessly. Clear coat is finite, and every correction takes a little. That is exactly why protecting the finish afterwards, and washing correctly, matters — so the car never needs heavy correction again.

Not every defect is correctable. Anything through the clear coat needs paint, and we will tell you that rather than polishing at it.
