Ceramic Coating — Benefits, Protection & Maintenance

A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat and cures into a hard, hydrophobic layer. The visible benefits are gloss and beading; the real one is that dirt keys into the surface less, so washing is gentler and washing is where most damage happens.
What it does not do is make the car scratch-proof. A coating resists light marring and chemical etching; it will not stop a stone chip or a key. For that you need film.
Maintenance is simple but not optional. Wash with a pH-neutral shampoo, avoid automatic brush washes entirely, do not let bird droppings sit, and dry with a clean towel. Done that way a good coating stays effective for years.
Preparation decides the outcome. A coating applied over swirled paint locks the swirls in, so correction comes first — and that is most of the work.
